There are many benefits that come with the installation of a Knobelsdorff Electric solar power system in your facility, including:

A HEDGE AGAINST THE RISK OF RISING ELECTRICITY PRICES

After 22 years of stable electricity prices generally in line with Consumer Price Index increases, average utility electric prices have increased by 40% relative to CPI in recent years and are expected to continue to increase at similar rates in the future.

SYSTEMS ARE CUSTOM DESIGNED FOR YOUR FACILITY

Our solar power systems are custom designed for your facility, taking into consideration paramenters such as present electricity usage, existing electrical infrastructure, roof structure, available area & shading.

LOW RISK, SECURE INVESTMENT

Solar power systems attract typical paybacks of 5-7 years and a return on investment in excess of 15%. The expected life of a solar power system is over 20 years, which ensures the equipment will continue to generate electricity well after the initial investment has been paid back.

INCREASES PROPERTY VALUE THROUGH LOWER OVERHEAD COSTS

A Knobelsdorff Electric solar system will reduce the electricity overhead cost of the facility – a significant expense for most operations. In the commercial arena, this will make the facility more appealing to leasees, while allowing the lessor to charge a premium.

CREATES A VISIBLE STATEMENT SUPPORTING YOUR SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT

A solar power system installed at your facility is an unmistakable statement of your sustainability commitment, to both clients and the general public. This can be enhanced through the installation of our optional monitoring system, which enables easy visibility of the live energy usage in the facility along with solar output – and can be viewed both online and via an onsite display.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CREDIT

A federal government tax credit continues to be available for solar power systems. Beginning in 2017, solar projects can take advantage of a 10% tax credit for the value of the system installed. Systems are not restricted in capacity and can be sized to 100% of consumption of the consumer’s electrical usage.

VERY LOW MAINTENANCE

Knobelsdorff Electric uses the finest in solar modules, combined with our own in-house design and technical installers to create a robust, reliable system – every time. Other components, including inverters, mounting equipment and cable are sourced from manufacturers that have obtained all relevant accreditation, including IEC, CEC, AS, UL and CSA.

We offer a turnkey solution from initial feasibility study, through installation to final commissioning, including management of the following key tasks:

LOCAL GOVERNMENT APPROVALS IF REQUIRED

• UTILITY CONNECTION AGREEMENTS AND FEED IN TARIFF (FIT) NEGOTIATIONS

• BUILDING STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS IF NEEDED

• METER CHANGEOVER

How Does Solar Work?

A typical solar power system consists of the following components:

flap image 1PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULES

Also known as solar panels; directly convert energy in the form of sunlight into direct current (DC) electrical energy.

2INVERTER

An inverter changes the solar DC power into 120/208/240/277/480V alternating current (AC), enabling it to be used at your facility – and exported to the grid.

3SWITCHBOARD

AC power from the inverter travels to the switchboard for use in your facility. The switchboard contains the Solar Supply Main Switch, which is used to isolate the system.

4ELECTRICITY METER

The meter records the electricity sent to the grid
from your solar system as well as the electricity consumed from the grid.

5ELECTRICITY GRID

Any surplus electricity generated by the system is sold back to your electricity retailer
through the grid.
