Controls Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Controls Engineer to join our growing team. The qualified individual must be a self-starter, organized and detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, plus the ability to work independently.

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of industrial process controls, electronics and field instrumentation
  • Experience with PLC programming – Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon and G.E.
  • Experience with communication networks – Ethernet, Devicenet, Profibus, Modbus, Controlnet, RS-232, RS-485
  • Experience with HMI’s and SCADA development – Allen-Bradley, Wonderware, Intellution & Ignition
  • Knowledge of VFD’s, motors and motor starters
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC systems
  • Ability to create engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with project field startup procedures and testing
  • Knowledge of control panel layouts that are UL 508A compliant

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or 5 years prior programming experience

Electrical Estimator

Our work is mainly in Southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities metro area but we also perform work throughout the Midwest.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. The qualified individual must be a self-starter, organized and detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, plus the ability to work independently.

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

  • Responsible for developing complete and accurate electrical estimates for commercial and industrial projects ranging in price from $5,000 to $3,000,000
  • Develops pricing via take-offs from client or KEI supplied documents and works with electrical suppliers and purchasing department to price equipment, components and electrical supplies. Includes pricing on all peripheral items such as permits, performance bonds, equipment leasing, etc.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid packages that are complete and ready for submittal to the client
  • Accompany Project Managers to bid presentations to assist in explaining pricing to client
  • Monitor win/lose ratio on bids to determine success rates and improve strategy for future bidding
  • Accurately estimate all project ECO’s, keeping KEI Project Managers up to date on budget changes
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, process controls, PLC’s, electronics and field instrumentation
  • Knowledge of:
    • VFD’s, motors, motor control centers and motor starters;
    • AC/DC systems;
    • Process temperature, pressure, flow and level instrumentation;
    • Low voltage wiring systems — fire, data, phone, security;
    • Electrical codes
  • Support day-to-day administration of KEI’s safety programs

Requirements:

  • Background in electrical engineering, construction management or licensed electrician
  • Minimum of 5 years prior electrical estimating experience
  • Good working knowledge of electrical construction industry

Electrical Project Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Project Manager to join our growing team. The qualified individual must be a self-starter, organized and detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, plus the ability to work independently.

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

  • Responsible for all phases of each project from concept design to scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, team supervision, client interface, execution and project close/sign-off.
  • Develop complete and accurate proposals, estimates and quotations
  • Accurately control and process ECO’s, keeping client up to date on budget changes
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed per scope of the project
  • Assist KEI department managers in determining manpower needs by project
  • Prepare weekly job status reports
  • Support day-to-day administration of KEI’s safety programs
  • Schedule design reviews with the client to ensure they are kept up to speed on scope, progress, budget and technical issues
  • Manage permitting process
  • Identifies and generates new business
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, process controls, PLC’s, electronics and field instrumentation
  • Familiarity with VFD’s, motors, motor control centers and motor starters
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC systems
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of process temperature, pressure, flow and level instrumentation
  • Signal wiring systems experience a plus – fire, data, phone, security
  • Knowledge of electrical codes

Requirements
